| The
year is 2007-08, a great Rotary year of service
under the very inspiring leadership of RI President
Wilfrid J (Wilf) and Joan Wilkinson, and the time
is May 2008, the time to look back and to reflect
upon our Theme – “Rotary Shares”
– and our performance for the year. A time
to celebrate our successes and to review our future
plans. This is the District 9200 83RD District
Conference and Assembly to be held May 14 –
17, 2008 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, a magnificent
conference at a very excellent setting at the
Kunduchi Beach Hotel.
The
Goal of the District Conference is to review the
previous years performance, set service goals
for the next year, elect and train future leaders,
and ultimately to Motivate and to Inspire Rotarian.
You and me must be there not only to be counted,
but to celebrate our own and our Clubs’
successes, to set our eyes to our Clubs’
future plans and to share in the motivation and
inspiration for more Rotary Service.
This
will be a conference with a difference, with very
distinguished and eminent speakers like Past-President
of Tanzania, Hon. Benjamin Mkapa to open the Conference,
and Keynote speakers like Past OAU Secretary General
and Past-Prime Minister of Tanzania Hon Salim
Ahmed Salim, and the East African Community Director
General Juma Mwapachu. The program will be spiced
up with plenty of entertainment, fun and fellowship,
but most importantly it will be a great opportunity
to Share Rotary, to renew friendships and also
to meet and make new friends.
We
are all most grateful to the Conference Advisor
Past-District Governor Hatim Karimjee, Conference
Chairman Past-Assistant Governor Raju Dave, and
the entire Conference Committee for the excellent
work of putting together a very exciting program
and selecting an excellent venue. Rose
and I most warmly welcome you all to this 83RD
District Conference and Assembly. Come and see,
come and experience how other Rotarians are working
actively and transparently with local and international
communities, making a difference and touching
the lives of our people, and get new energy and
inspiration to go forth and serve, and to demonstrate
that indeed “Rotary Shares” and Rotarians
care. |
